Random thoughts

This morning while heading into work I drove to my old job (A place that is on my way to my new job). Pulled into my old parking spot and then realized..... ahhh what am I doing. I don't work here! So, of course I quickly jumped back in my car and headed to my current job! hmmm what was I thinking about..... Probably about:Gray's upcoming graduation!, our beach trip, summer in general!, visiting Paula Deen in Savannah, GA!, and of course decorating!

So its no wonder I ended up in the wrong place! Here are some other things I was thinking about too.

I want to make one of these slip covers...but after I finish our bench slip covers that I have been working on and off on for weeks(I will show pictures soon).

& yesterday when cruising pinterest I came across this room. It is so unique yet beautiful I had to share.

Let me tell you what speaks to me:

What made me first stop and look at this room was the ruffled coffee table slip cover (of course!).. but then my eye was drawn to the lavender pillow resting in the cream velvet chair tucked into the corner. I love the contrast of the heavy navy curtains with the informal sea grass carpet and the moroccan stool wedged between two zebra ottomans.... I would rate this room a ten! What do you think?

Happy Thursday!

Mothers Day

This past weekend was a sad yet beautiful weekend. Gray's sweet Mimi (His grandmother) passed away. Heres a picture of me, my mom, Mrs. K., and Mimi!

The four of us had been peeling peaches and  making peach jelly all day.

The reason I say beautiful... is because Mimi was not scared of death.. during the week before her passing she was in the ICU. While there all of the family was gathered around. Gray's sister began to sing hymns. She was singing, "It is well with my soul" when Mimi who could not speak began to nod her head.

Tears fell from my eyes as I watched this beautiful moment past.

Gray reminded me yesterday... we should celebrate her and be happy becuase she is probably in heaven... dancing.. right now! I agree I bet she is!

So today, as we mourn our loss I am also so very thankful for all the beautiful Moms in my life today. Including my mom and my sister (who just had her first mothers day)!

Happy Mother's Day.

Farm to Table

Farm to table or should we say garden to table dinner party! This past weekend I was asked by my mom to set the table for a party she was hosting for some work friends.

Her garden is amazing... and I couldn't wait to help her put something together. She wanted to use as much as she could from her garden hence the farm to table theme.

The view..... what a night to have friends over.

The center piece was simple, a galvanized bucket packed full with three dozen carnations. Surrounding the flowers on a terra cotta tray I placed fresh carrots and bok choy leaves from her garden. Her  lettuce is truly beautiful.

When deciding on the china, table linens, and chargers... I wanted to keep it simple yet fresh. Blue gingham napkins remind me of a fun picnic, I used the green Provvista plates because they felt fresh and popped against the blue in the napkins and the orange from the carrots. Two denim runners (purchased at target) were used under he wooden chargers.

Simple yet classic. Fun was had by all.

Some shots of her cooking up a storm.

After arranging the table setting, I headed to the Fox Theater to see Sister Act with my cousin! Go see that play if you are in Atlanta.... it was a treat! And it was a treat to spend time with Leanne too!

Hope your week is off to a great start.

Weekend in Review

Wooo weee... this past weekend flew by. On Saturday morning I hit the road to Atlanta. I was dying to see the Atlanta Symphony Decorators Show house in person.

It was definitely worth it. See a few photos below.

One of my favorites.....

On to another room.
I just loved all the details!

The wallpaper in one of the stairways....

 And the other stairway....

The main living room...

After the show house I headed to a few of my favorite antique and fabric stores in Atlanta.

Fabric, fabric, and more fabric!

After shopping around, I headed over to see a new client! It was the first consultation but we ended up moving her furniture all around as well as arranging her beautiful china in her hutch. I should have taken a before.. this is the after.

Can't wait to make a few updates in this dinning room. Next.. I headed to Ruth Chris Steak house to meet the family for dinner... YUM!

Didn't get any pictures from the dinner but here is a picture of Gray and I from Easter. The count down is on for Gray graduating law school! 27 days to go!!!!!!!!!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

Design Boards

This past month has been an exciting one at JED (Jamie Evelyn Designs) because we are officially becoming an LLC!

I have several consultations scheduled and I couldn't be more excited!

Here is a sneak peek at a first draft mood boards for a client that I am meeting with next weekend!

We are using what she has (which I love) and adding a few new pieces here and there and of course working on a realistic budget!

Can't wait to start implementing this project.

TGIF

TGIF,
This little one wanted to sleep in this morning!

Hah! So I made the bed around him and told him to sleep as late as he wanted!

So glad the weekend is almost here ... I have started to think of all the projects I have listed in my head.. and I easily remembered that we need a larger book shelf in our office. I adore design books... somehow they recharge me, and I have a personal goal of having each one of them personally signed!

But after a while you wonder what to do with all these beloved books... plus all of my husbands law books....

So after hunting for the perfect bookshelves and not finding any, we have decided to just build our own shelves in our office.

Heres the inspiration:

Wish us luck!

And the latest book I ordered is ...

Mr. Nathan Turner and his dog.

And a few shoots from his amazing portfolio!

I hear his store is packed full of goodies and you can even purchase some of them on 1st Dibs.

I can't wait for my copy of his book to arrive!

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.. its suppose to be sunny and 70 so I am planning on spending a lot of time outside.
